How a weddingunfolds here.

3 PM

Hair, makeup, breath

Final preparations in the suite. Bridal flowers brought up by our florist. The rest of the guest house quiet — guests gathering in the courtyard, soft music, hibiscus on the side table.

5 PM

Ceremonyat sunset

Guests seated on the terrace, the river behind them, the sun two-thirds of the way down. Officiant takes their place. Music swells. The walk happens. Vows. Rings. The Nile keeps flowing because it has always flowed.

6 PM

Cocktails &portraits

Karkade cocktails, dates, mezze on small tables. The couple slips away with the photographer for golden-hour portraits on the dock and along the village murals. The first stars appear.

7:30 PM

Long-tableNubian dinner

One long communal table down the terrace, set with hand-painted plates and bunting overhead. Multi-course dinner — fish tagine, seasonal salads, fresh bread, slow-roasted lamb if you want it. Speeches between courses, with the chef coming out to introduce each dish.

10 PM

Music &dancing

Live Nubian musicians take over from the playlist — tar drums, oud, group clapping, traditional and modern songs. Dancing on the terrace under the bunting. Mocktails and tea continue. The couple cuts the cake.

Late

Stars onthe rooftop

For the night owls — head up to the rooftop with a final tea or one of our hibiscus mocktails. The stars over Aswan are unmatched. Linger as long as you like. Breakfast is at 9. Sleep when you sleep.

A couple who married here

We got married on a Tuesday in November on a small island in Egypt. Eighteen people came. There was nothing rushed, nothing performed, nothing that felt like a wedding industry template. The river was right there. It was the best day of our lives, and the second-best, and the third because the whole three days felt like one long quiet ceremony.
