What to bring.

Pack light, but pack right — a few things make the difference between a good outing and a great one.

Sunscreen & a hat The temple courtyards are largely open-air. The sun reflects off the stone and the water — protection from both directions matters.
Comfortable, closed-toe shoes The island's paths are uneven and the boat landing is wet. Sandals are tempting but sturdy flats serve you much better here.
Camera or phone Hieroglyphs, colonnades, and the glittering reservoir behind them — you'll want a full battery. Bring a power bank just in case.
A water bottle There are no shops on the island. Fill up before you board the boat — the tour is longer than it looks on a map.
A light layer for the boat ride The crossing to the island can be breezy, especially in the morning or evening. A light jacket or scarf makes the ride far more pleasant.
